Moving right along

After nearly 15 years in this house, we're moving on. Here's the short version of events.

We've been looking at houses in the Stone Creek housing addition in Sand Springs for a few years. We especially liked a particular floor plan, but the price and our financial situation just didn't match up. In the past few months, we had even planned to look at some other houses and each time, the house would go under contract a day or two before our scheduled appt to look at it. In March/April this year, we decided to go ahead and start making repairs, painting, etc to get our house ready to sell. We didn't know if that would lead to moving or just having the house looking a little nicer. One day, we stopped yet again to look at an open house on a former builder's model of "our" floorplan. The price had been reduced significantly. We went home and crunched the numbers and realized that it does fit into our budget. Matt tried to get me to ask the builder if they would entertain a trade. My response? Builders don't do that kind of thing anymore! So we stepped up repairs a notch. Right after Easter, we stopped at the builder's local office to ask a couple of questions. She asked if we were really interested in that house. I said yes, but we were not ready to put our house on the market. I was whining about having the time to do the work and offhandedly said, "Unless you want to trade?" I was kidding, because remember? I assured my husband those deals don't happen. Are you ready for it?

I was wrong and Matt was right!

She said they might entertain a trade. Four weeks later, we had a deal. Part of the deal is they want to close on both houses quickly. We don't have a firm date yet, but it will be on June 1 or before. We prayed diligently since we started fixing up the house that God's will would be done. When He works, He works in His timing and His way. Amazing. We are very excited and our house is in complete disarray. I'm running in circles, but I know we'll get everything going in the right direction when we need to.

Here's my current living room/box storage facility. New house

Ah!! The sold sign.

Congratulations! Looks like you'll be busy for a while. We lived in a Gibson home in Jenks and the layout looked just like yours. We really liked the floor plan.
See you at China camp,
Susan

LOL, I should have come over here to see the WHOLE story earlier! How exciting! (When I told Rick about how quickly things were moving and closing on both houses he asked if you all were trading)

The new house looks beautiful and the old house looks a little overwhelming right now!
